Bags have been used by travelers since the dawn of man. Today, we see thousands of models, designs and colors whose sole and simple purpose is letting us carry and protect our belongings when we're on the go. But just because the task is simple, not all bags are sufficient for the job they are designed to do.
This was one of many challenges when the Profile Store looked for a new trolley bag to offer. It not only had to have the proper quality and design, it also had to give real value back to its user. The result was not only a trolley, but a whole collection of new bags we now call: Déco.
The demands and expectations for the trolley were high. Many of the target users are expected to use it more or less on a daily basis. The trolley has to withstand the hard use and meet the needs of a frequent traveler as well as the person who is just going away for the weekend.
Lindsay Royston, from MRE in Australia, is one of many Atlas Copco travelers and is very familiar with the demands of constantly being on the road. We asked him to test our new trolley to see if it could withstand the everyday use he would put it through.
"Since I'm on the road 3-4 days a week, one of the many things I look for in a trolley is the ability to separate my clothes from the rest of my belongings and be able to keep them fresh and in good shape. This trolley does this perfectly, and together with a variety of compartments and zipped areas, the bag is very convenient for holding lots of files, folders and also computers" says Lindsay from the office in Blacktown, a 40-minute drive from downtown Sydney.
Lindsay has tested the trolley for 3 consecutive months and has really put it through some rough handling along the way.
"Going in and out of offices and planes all day, ergonomics is also an important factor when you are pulling a trolley." Lindsay continues, "I've met many travelers, myself included, who have had experience with bags where they get problems with arm and back strain. With this bag I can clearly see and feel that the design team has taken this into consideration in order to prevent such problems. This is no longer an issue for me. No more pain."
Lindsay tells us he normally travels with the trolley and a smaller attaché case. Both are with him all day before it's time to reach the overnight hotel. When he's on the move, he relies on the strong, extendable handle to also carry the weight of his attaché case. This takes the stress off his shoulders and also lets him have one hand free to open doors, etc.
"It may seem like a small and insignificant detail, but when you travel like I do it can be very frustrating when the handle on the trolley doesn't expand and retract in an easy way when you're going on and off a plane. This bag has never malfunctioned or jammed for me and is also extremely well-balanced so it follows me around very smoothly."
It seems that it was possible to create a new, Atlas Copco-designed trolley and that it clearly can meet the tough requirements from our frequent travelers. We have simply made a trolley that gets the job done.
Lindsay Royston sums up his opinion like this. "I can really recommend this bag to anyone who travels regularly. I am on the road all the time and I know I would be lost without it."
